All interior wooden floors

PREPERATION

  • The surface must be well sanded, dry and free from sanding dust, oil, waxand other contamination.
  • The Bona Abrasives Scrad system, sanding disc/screen or sandpaper grade no. 120 or finer should be used for the final sanding of the wood.
Preparation of factory pre-finished floors and previously finished floors:
  • Floor must be cleaned with Polish Remover and sanded until a matt surface is achieved. Bona Abrasives Scrad, sanding disc/screen or sandpapergrade no. 150 should be used.
  • The surface must not have been treated previously with wax, polish or similiar products.
  • Traffic usually has very good adhesion to pre-finished floors but the intercoat adhesion must always be checked prior to application: Lightly sand a small area and apply a coat of finish. After 2-3 days scrath the floor surface gently with a coin. If the finish stays firmly attached to the surface the adhesion is satisfactory.

APPLICATION

  • Add 10% Traffic Hardener to the finish. Shake the mixture well for at least 15 seconds. The mixture of finish/hardener should be used within 5 hours.
  • It is suggested that the application is carried out using a Bona roller. Apply the finish evenly with a smooth flowing action avoiding accumulations of finish. NB The room and finish temprature must not fall below +13°C during application and drying.
  • Application rate: 8-10 sqm/litre (100-120g/sqm) per coat
  • Recommended primers: Seal, Prime
  • Recommended treatment schedules:
    Bare wood: 1 X primer + 2-3 X Traffic, or 3-4 X Traffic Overcoating: 1-2 X Traffic
  • NB For all wood floors where there is a risk of sidebonding, e.g. endgrain floors, softwood plank floors and hardwood floors with underfloor heating, it is recommended that Prime is used for the initial application.
  • After the first application a light sanding may be carried out using the Bona Abrasives Scrad system. For Traffic it is recommended that a sanding disc/screen or sandpaper grade no. 120 or finer is used.
  • Drying time: 3-4 hours per coat at 20°C/60% RH
  • The floor will take light foot traffic approximately 8 hours after the final application. After approximately 1 week the finish will be completely cured. The floor can then be cleaned using a damp cloth and a neutral or slightly alkaline cleaning agent, e.g. Parkett Cleaner, and carpets/rugs can be laid.
